Synopsis

A forest ranger learns that the woman he loves has married someone else. When she discovers that her husband runs a criminal operation, she seeks refuge in the ranger's mountain district. The husband follows, bringing the violence of his business into an isolated landscape where offering shelter makes the ranger a target too.

Behind the scenes

The project began under the title Thunder Mountain. Several proposed cast members became unavailable before filming, with Regis Toomey and Ellen Drew taking roles originally intended for other performers. The resulting thriller combines a black-market crime story with the cabins and lookout stations of a forest-service setting.
