Synopsis
A celebrated painter avoids publicity so successfully that his own agent has never met him. When a doctor mistakes his dead valet for the artist, he sees an opportunity to disappear. Living under the servant's identity promises freedom, until other people's expectations intrude.

Arnold Bennett's novel Buried Alive and its theatrical adaptation, The Great Adventure, supply the mistaken identity. Contemporary critic Mordaunt Hall valued the film's restrained, intelligent approach to comedy.
