Synopsis
A young man's engagement brings him into a wealthy family whose expectations clash with his independent way of life. Choosing a future with his fiancée also means deciding how much freedom he is willing to surrender. The courtship becomes a contest between personal conviction and inherited ideas about success.

Inspirations
Edward H. Griffith directed this adaptation of Philip Barry's 1928 play, with Ann Harding and Mary Astor. Its central conflict places the meaning of a good life ahead of the usual question of who will marry whom.
