Synopsis

A young woman's marriage to a wealthy New Yorker collapses under his repeated infidelity. Determined to live independently, she refuses his money while facing painful choices about their daughter. The freedom she seeks comes with pressures that wealth alone would not resolve.

Cast

Inspirations

Donald Henderson Clarke's novel was initially passed over by MGM because of its sexual material. Charles R. Rogers acquired it instead, making the film part of the more candid pre-Code treatment of marriage and women's independence.
