Synopsis

A department-store assistant sets out to attract the wealthy young owner despite the difference in their social positions. A lively date suggests that the interest is mutual, but her attempt to protect a friend's baby creates a damaging misunderstanding. She must confront his assumptions about her while deciding what kind of attention she actually wants.

Cast

Historical context

The film made Clara Bow inseparable from the idea of the 'It Girl'. Elinor Glyn appears as herself, helping define the elusive personal magnetism promoted by the title, though the screen story differs substantially from her published fiction.
