Synopsis

A storm forces an aircraft down near a Caribbean island, where the survivors accept shelter in an imposing house. One visitor quickly becomes convinced that its servants are zombies. While his companions hesitate to believe him, the household's strange behaviour reveals a scheme involving hypnosis, espionage and a missing military officer.

Cast

Behind the scenes

The villain's role was initially considered for Bela Lugosi and then Peter Lorre before Henry Victor was cast. Mantan Moreland supplies much of the comedy, within a servant role shaped by the racial conventions of the period. The production combines a stranded-traveller mystery with wartime spy fiction.
