Synopsis
A babysitting assignment sends Jack into a dream in which he becomes the hero of the familiar fairy tale. Magic beans lead to a castle above the clouds, where a giant has taken the kingdom's food and treasures. Abbott and Costello turn the rescue mission into a musical adventure shaped by their contrasting confidence and confusion.
Abbott and Costello made the film independently after their regular studio declined to finance a colour production. The contrast between sepia framing scenes and the colourful fairy-tale world makes the change of register visible. Sets from Joan of Arc were reused at Hal Roach Studios.
