Synopsis
Gentleman thief and cricketer A. J. Raffles intends to retire from crime after becoming engaged. A friend's gambling debt draws him toward one more jewel theft at a country house. Rival burglars, a watchful inspector and the unexpected arrival of his fiancée make this final undertaking difficult to control.

Inspirations
Ronald Colman's elegant criminal comes from E. W. Hornung's stories through the stage adaptation written with Eugene Wiley Presbrey. The film mixes the country-house mystery with a thief whose social standing helps disguise his activities.
