Synopsis
Gene Autry believes that a shot he fired at a mountain lion accidentally killed a forest ranger. An insect infestation then reveals a scheme to profit from the destruction of protected timber. As he helps organise aerial spraying, the men behind the scheme try to discredit him with a new accusation of poisoning cattle.
This modern Western builds its conflict around forest management, logging restrictions and aerial insect control. Its confidence in chemical spraying reflects the period in which it was made, giving the environmental storyline a different emphasis from later conservation films.
