Synopsis

Piano teacher Magda becomes engaged to Knud but is drawn to a circus performer whose way of life promises another kind of freedom. She leaves with Rudolf, only to find his wandering attention impossible to reconcile with her attachment to him. Knud's attempts to intervene cannot easily break the relationship's hold on her.
