Synopsis
A star reporter preparing to leave his newspaper becomes absorbed in a condemned man's escape. His editor sees a story too valuable to lose, whatever the reporter's personal plans. The newsroom's pursuit of an exclusive threatens to consume every other obligation.
Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur's play supplies the mixture of professional rivalry, political pressure and cynical humour. The Academy Film Archive preserved this early screen version in 2016.
