Synopsis
A baker's niece leaves Vienna convinced that a correspondence course has prepared her for operatic success. The advertised job she finds in Budapest is actually part of a nightclub operation serving wealthy clients. Her refusal to accept its expectations leads her toward new allies and another setting where appearances and social position are equally deceptive.
