Synopsis
Jesus's ministry brings healing and hope to those who gather around him, while attracting hostility and divided expectations. Mary Magdalene, the disciples and the people of Jerusalem become part of a drama moving toward betrayal, trial and crucifixion. DeMille's large-scale production concludes with the resurrection, presenting the Gospel narrative through devotional imagery and spectacle.
Cast
Behind the scenes
Jeanie Macpherson's screenplay draws on the four Gospels. The original presentation combines tinted passages with two-color Technicolor in selected sequences, using changes in the image as part of the film's religious spectacle.
