Synopsis

A prince fleeing an imagined Asian kingdom reaches France and meets a film star who brings him into the studio world. Playing a story resembling his own makes performance difficult to separate from experience. Romance with his screen partner provokes a jealous financier, whose schemes turn the refugee's unfamiliarity with Parisian life into a practical danger.

Behind the scenes

Epstein's first film for Albatros developed an idea associated with its star Ivan Mosjoukine. The movement from an exotic adventure to a Paris film studio allows the production to place spectacular fiction beside the machinery that creates it.
