Synopsis
An outlaw escapes a posse and reaches another town under a false name. His ability to handle a violent local impresses residents desperate for order. Offered the marshal's job, he must confront the contradiction between a wanted past and a new public responsibility.
Cast
Historical context
William S. Hart both stars and directs. The premise allows his Western persona to move between outlaw and lawman, treating authority as something demonstrated through conduct rather than guaranteed by a clean history.
