Synopsis

Two children care for an ailing kitten in a brief domestic scene. The camera moves closer to the animal, turning a small gesture of care into the centre of the film.

Behind the scenes

George Albert Smith remade his earlier, now-lost The Little Doctor. The use of a close view without an explanatory mask shows an early filmmaker trusting audiences to follow a change in shot scale.
