Synopsis
After a broken engagement, a young Black woman returns to the South and helps a school facing closure. A fundraising journey north brings new relationships and exposes contrasting attitudes toward education and racial equality. Her efforts gradually reveal a past shaped by violence whose consequences reach far beyond her own family.
