Synopsis

A country girl meets a film actor and follows him to the city, expecting to become a screen star. A failed test leaves her embarrassed to return home after the success she has described in letters. Accepting the actor's help draws her into a social world whose attractions become harder to separate from its demands on her.

Cast

Behind the scenes

Tourneur filmed behind the scenes at the Paragon studio in Fort Lee, showing sets, processing facilities and other work areas. The production offers an unusual contemporary view of filmmaking before Hollywood became the industry's dominant center.
