Synopsis

During the French and Indian War, an approaching attack places a British fort and the people travelling toward it in danger. Uncas carries a warning through contested territory. Alliances, personal loyalties and attraction complicate a journey shaped by imperial conflict.

James Fenimore Cooper's novel provides the fictional adventure within a historical war. Clarence Brown took over directing after Maurice Tourneur was injured, and both are associated with the finished film.
