Miss Nancy Montague
A young couple's attachment crosses the political divisions of the American Revolution. Family loyalties and military commitments pull them toward opposing sides, while violence carries the conflict from Massachusetts into New York's frontier settlements. Their efforts to remain connected unfold alongside a patriotic account of the struggle for independence.

D. W. Griffith drew on Robert W. Chambers's novel The Reckoning and consulted historical organisations during preparation. The film combines recognisable Revolutionary events with invented romance, presenting a strongly patriotic interpretation rather than a neutral record of the war.
