Synopsis
A neglected wife tries to stop her daughter becoming involved with a notorious man, only to find herself drawn to him. The encounter reveals how thoroughly her husband and daughter have taken her own wishes for granted. Protecting the younger woman becomes inseparable from deciding whether to remain within the life her family expects her to accept.
The adaptation of Edgar Selwyn and Edmund Goulding's play gives Alice Joyce the mother's role opposite Clara Bow. Its focus on the older woman's unrealised life complicates the usual Jazz Age contrast between a conventional parent and a rebellious daughter.
