Synopsis
The Earl of Huntingdon follows King Richard on crusade while Prince John takes control of England. Reports of oppression lead him to risk disgrace by returning home. Finding his friends outlawed and his beloved apparently lost, he adopts a new identity and organises resistance from the forest against the prince's rule.

An immense castle and a constructed Nottingham village made the film one of Douglas Fairbanks's most elaborate productions. Its premiere at Grauman's Egyptian Theatre in October 1922 became a landmark in Hollywood's development of the lavish movie-opening event.
