Inspirations

Ralph Spence's stage mystery supplies the basic premise, which the Ritz Brothers turn into a vehicle for comedy.

Behind the scenes

A production delay after the death of the brothers' father led to a contract dispute with Fox. The finished film became their last for the studio, making its troubled production part of a larger break in their screen career.
