Figures de cire

Synopsis

After claiming that he does not know fear, Pierre accepts a wager to spend the night in a wax museum. The still figures gradually unsettle him, and the locked doors make departure impossible. A friend's arrival in the darkness turns the test of courage toward a disastrous misunderstanding.

Inspirations

Maurice Tourneur draws on André de Lorde's story and its Grand Guignol stage origins. The museum's arranged bodies allow theatrical horror and the character's imagination to reinforce one another.
