Synopsis

A Spanish merchant captain postpones retirement when war creates profitable demand for shipping. During a stop in Italy, he meets a woman who seems to embody a sea legend from his childhood. His fascination draws him toward a German espionage operation, putting the ship, his family and his loyalty at risk.

Inspirations

Rex Ingram returned to the work of Vicente Blasco Ibáñez after The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Made after the director moved his production activity away from Hollywood, the film stars Alice Terry in a story connecting maritime commerce, myth and wartime seduction.
