Synopsis
An Argentine patriarch openly favours one side of his divided European family. The younger generation inherits both affection and resentment before war places national loyalties in opposition. Private relationships become vulnerable to a catastrophe much larger than the household that shaped them.
Vicente Blasco Ibáñez's novel supplied the family saga. Screenwriter June Mathis played a central role in bringing the large literary project to Metro, with Rudolph Valentino as Julio.
