Synopsis

A correspondent's encounters with a Prussian officer and a celebrated dancer lead from the aftermath of the American Civil War to Europe. The dancer's adventures eventually connect those worlds to the American West. Romance and spectacle accompany a journey across conflicting loyalties.

Inspirations

Michael J. Phillips's story drew loosely on an Arizona town legend. Walter Wanger developed the project as an extravagant Western fantasy, making its historical backdrop a setting for invention rather than a literal biography.
