Synopsis

A prospector helps a hunted wolf-dog with an injured paw and gains its loyalty. A rival then attacks the man to seize his valuable claim. The animal must carry a call for help while escaping people who still see it as a dangerous quarry, turning a chase into an attempt to lead rescuers toward the truth.

Behind the scenes

Rin Tin Tin stars against California locations including the landscape later protected as Joshua Tree National Park. The film gives the dog's movement through open terrain a direct narrative purpose: reaching people who do not yet understand whom they should be helping.
