Synopsis
A new schoolmaster arrives in Sleepy Hollow already aware of its terrifying local legend. His interest in a wealthy young woman antagonises a rival, while his severe teaching wins few friends among the villagers. As rumours and practical hostility gather around him, a night journey brings the feared horseman into his path.

Inspirations
Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow provides the characters and setting. Filming around Tarrytown placed the adaptation close to the Hudson Valley landscape of the story. Will Rogers plays against his generally genial persona as the stern and self-interested Ichabod Crane.
