Synopsis

Amy exchanges her grandfather's Fifth Avenue mansion for the poor neighborhood where her father is researching urban life. Initially contemptuous of her new neighbors, she gradually becomes involved in their friendships, quarrels and problems. Learning to live among them brings her into conflict with the wealth and power she once took for granted.

Cast

Inspirations

Mary Pickford produced and starred in this adaptation of Julie Mathilde Lippmann's novel Burkeses Amy. The role places her comic energy inside a story about class prejudice and the distance between philanthropy and everyday solidarity.
