The Loves of Casanova

1927132 minFrance

Synopsis

Casanova moves through Venice with debts, lovers and offended husbands close behind him. Escape carries him toward Russia, where a new disguise gains access to the imperial court without curing the habits that endangered him at home. Returning to Venice brings further adventures, a duel and imprisonment, with romance repeatedly interrupting the practical business of getting away.

Cast

Behind the scenes

Volkoff's spectacle combines elaborate costumes and sets with tinted images and a stencil-colored Venetian carnival sequence. Many of its principal collaborators were Russian émigrés working in France after the revolution.
