Synopsis

A bank teller discovers embezzlement and is attacked before he can expose it. A car sent to dispose of him later appears wrecked with a different body, leaving his daughter dependent on the family behind the crime. A young man's effort to repair his own father's finances brings him into the same network of concealed wrongdoing.

Inspirations

The film adapts Richard Harding Davis's novel, with Lon Chaney among the cast. Its bank fraud and missing-person mystery turn a distinctive vehicle into the link between financial respectability and violence.
