Synopsis
A lieutenant with a reputation for romantic mischief is posted to a remote mountain fortress. On the way, a bandit leader steals his uniform and takes an interest in him. At the fort, the commander's daughter is also a prospective bride, while the soldiers' exaggerated accounts of victory make an already tangled courtship even more absurd.
Cast

Behind the scenes
Lubitsch described this military farce as a grotesque in four acts. Its deliberately exaggerated performances and stylized fortress setting make military prestige part of the joke.
