Synopsis
A woman's recurring hiccups lead her to a psychoanalyst and then to doubts about her marriage. What begins as a search for relief becomes a romantic complication for both spouses. Domestic security is tested through conversation, jealousy and increasingly elaborate misunderstandings.
The screenplay draws on Divorçons, the nineteenth-century play by Victorien Sardou and Émile de Najac. Its marital manoeuvres are relocated to a world in which psychoanalysis offers a fashionable language for dissatisfaction.
