Synopsis
After his death, a mischievous man leaves three friends letters claiming that he was involved with each of their wives. Granted a view of the next day's events, he watches the husbands reinterpret their marriages through suspicion. The comedy follows the damage that a carefully planted story can do before anyone establishes whether it is true.

Writer Vera Caspary had already worked on A Letter to Three Wives. This film revisits a related structure of marital suspicion from a different angle, and contemporary critics directly compared the two. That connection makes it useful to watch as a variation on a storytelling pattern, rather than as an isolated premise.
