Faces of Children

Synopsis

After his mother's death, Jean struggles to accept his father's new marriage and the rearrangement of their Swiss mountain home. Objects, rooms and everyday decisions seem to erase the life he remembers. His resentment focuses on his stepsister, and an attempt to hurt her exposes both children to consequences far beyond the domestic rivalry.

Cast

Behind the scenes

Feyder and Françoise Rosay developed the story around a child's grief without making the adults simple villains. Extensive Swiss location work connects the emotional conflict with the village's customs and the dangers of its surrounding landscape.
