Synopsis

A working-class Parisian boy returns a lost handbag to a wealthy woman who decides to give him a better life. Believing that his departure will help his widowed mother remarry, he accepts the offer. His new home supplies luxury, private lessons and a rigid timetable, but belonging proves harder to provide than an elaborate education.

Cast

Behind the scenes

Jacques Feyder made Gribiche for Films Albatros, a company associated with Russian émigré filmmakers in France. The production contrasts the boy's family surroundings with a mansion whose modern decoration and strict organization embody his benefactor's ideas about improvement.
