Synopsis

A lawyer maintains a respectable public image while seeking romantic freedom after office hours. His absent wife's mother watches him closely, making concealment essential. A lookalike offers a possible solution whose success depends on everyone accepting the wrong man.

Historical context

Edward Everett Horton's dual role turns the difference between public respectability and private behaviour into a literal doubling. The farce grows from stage material adapted for an early sound audience.
